Community Hubs: bringing your local services together

We are gradually bringing our community services for people of all ages together into improved accommodation over the next few years (2015-21).

Our community mental health and learning disability services for people of all ages will be moving to a series of locations across Surrey’s boroughs and in North East Hampshire.

We’re doing this to:

  • Create a more modern, welcoming environment and replace buildings which are no longer fit for purpose due to their poor condition, layout or facilities
  • Make us more accessible by public transport and for those with additional needs
  • Improve people’s experience of our services
  • Encourage better communications and more joined-up working by locating teams together
  • Make our services more affordable – and sustainable - by making better use of the space we have.

We have created three Hubs: for Guildford, North East Hampshire and for Waverley and we will be incorporating our learning from these projects into our plans for elsewhere.

Gatton Place in Redhill is the first stage in the creation of a community hub in the east of the borough.

Theta in Frimley is the base for Surrey Heath community services that were previously located in the Ridgewood Centre and Cedar House.

Services in Langley House, Oxted, have moved to Gatton Place and Bracketts Resource Centre due to the termination of the building's lease.

Who will be affected?

This will affect the majority of our community learning disability and mental health services for people of all ages. Our inpatient/residential, drug and alcohol or day services will not be relocating to our Community Hubs.

People will still receive support from the same person but may be asked to attend a different location for their appointment.

We will be keeping a widespread presence across the county so that people won’t have to travel far. And, just as we do now, we will continue to see people at home or at other agreed venues, such as a GP practice, if that’s more convenient.
