According to the 2001 census there are 5.2 million carers in Britain. Almost 100,000 of those live in Surrey, with 14,000 providing care for more than 50 hours a week.

At Surrey and Borders, we are committed to supporting you while you are looking after someone who uses our services. If we can’t help you directly, we may be able to point you in the direction of someone who has the expertise you need. For example, many organisations can give on practical, day-to-day financial advice or lend a supportive ear if you’re feeling under pressure.

We have several service user and carer groups who meet regularly and discuss how we can best support you. Joining FoCUS (our Forum of Carers and people who Use Services) is an ideal way to get involved in your loved one's care with us.  Our Carers Action Group reports to the FoCUS Committee every two months, to ensure that we hear and respond to carer's feedback (2012 reports available here).
