Welcome to our newly registered mental health nurses

We have held our first nurse graduation ceremony to celebrate the success of our newly qualified nurses.

On 27th November, a graduation and ‘pinning’ ceremony was held for 17 newly registered mental health and learning disability nurses at the Holiday Inn in Guildford. Pins were presented by Jo Young, our Chief Nurse and Deputy Chief Executive, and the nurses were ‘pinned’ by family, friends, mentors and teachers to mark their great achievements.

The nurses successfully completed a three year Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) approved programme at Surrey University, which involved a combination of academic studies and clinical placements at our Trust. The nursing placements took place across many of our divisions, including working age adults, children and young people and specialist services, and the trainees were mentored and supported throughout by our registered nurses.

Sarah Chave, a newly qualified mental health nurse working at Rowan Ward at Farnham Road Hospital, said: “I’m really proud to now be working as a fully qualified mental health nurse.

“The last three years have been both exciting and challenging, and I’m looking forward to furthering my career with the Trust!”

A big welcome to you all!
