Dr Christos Kouimtsidis, consultant psychiatrist specialising in addiction, in partnership with Dr Katrina Scior, Chartered Clinical Psychologist, and Professor Angela Hassiotis, consultant psychiatrist specialising in Intellectual Disability, has published a new manual providing interventions for treating people who have a learning disability and misuse alcohol.

The manual provides an overview of alcohol disorders and treatment for people with learning disabilities, therapist characteristics and the therapeutic approach, how to communicate with people who have a learning diability in a therapeutic setting, how to include family members and carers. It also includes handouts and worksheets to support clinicians.
