Arc 1 and Arc 2 Wards at the Noel Lavin Unit are now closed to make way for the new mental health hospital development. People from Guildford and Waverley are currently being admitted to the Abraham Cowley Unit in Chertsey whilst people from Elmbridge are now being admitted to the Mid Surrey Assessment and Treatment Unit in Epsom.

The Ridgewood Centre, Frimley

The Ridgewood Centre provides mental health inpatient services for adults and older adults. Our day services are also used by people seen by our local Home Treatment Team.

Inpatient Therapy Services

Our inpatient therapy services provide varied diversional activity, fitness and therapy programmes to people who are admitted to adult inpatient wards and to those who are under the care of our Home Treatment Teams.

The programmes provide an opportunity for people to do something fun and help increase participation, develop routine and build concentration, problem-solving and decision-making skills.  Some people who use our services can suffer from social isolation - be that due to stigma, reduced support networks or loss of desire to socialise - and the groups give them the chance to meet others with similar problems and promote interaction.

A number of the diverse therapy groups also provide psycho-education and an opportunity to develop coping strategies to promote recovery and wellbeing, all in the context of having support from facilitators as well as other people who use our services.

Individuals are welcome to negotiate the best options for achieving their agreed therapeutic goals and to choose activities which have the most meaning for them.

The inpatient therapy teams are multidisciplinary and include psychologists, occupational therapists, art therapists, nurses, assistant psychologists, pilates instructors, aromatherapists, fitness and wellbeing instructors, diversional activity co-ordinators and volunteers.
