Referral Process

We take self referrals from anyone who wants help, either over the phone or face to face. Our duty worker will talk through the most appropriate options, whether that be in our service or a referral to a more appropriate service. We also accept referrals from GPs or other referral agencies. If the referral does not come from the service user's GP we will write to the GP to inform them of the referral and keep them informed of the care plan and progress. Referrals can be made in writing, via post, fax or email (respond@sabp.nhs.uk) or they can be made verbally over the phone.

Referral Criteria

We will assess any person aged 18+ who has concerns about their drug or alcohol use and has a GP in Eastern Surrey. With consent, some clients may be subsequently referred on to partner agencies with a specific remit.

Waiting Times

Referrals for clients with drug problems are seen within three weeks. Those with alcohol concerns are usually assessed within 4-6 weeks.
