Service Description

Surrey and Borders Eating Disorders Services are currently provided by a specialist team which operates in three localities, North West Surrey, South West Surrey (including Hampshire Borders) and East Surrey.

Out-patient services are available on all three sites. A triage assessment system operates to keep waiting times down. Although staff are nominally linked to a specific locality, staff work flexibly across the Trust area to ensure individual and group therapy is provided equitably.

A day care programme is available at the Landsdown Unit in Farnham Hospital.

Our aim is to offer a high quality service to adults (age 18+) who suffer from Anorexia Nervosa or moderate to severe forms of Bulimia Nervosa. Limited input will be offered to clients with Binge Eating Disorder, usually a group. Referrals of young people aged below 18 years should be addressed to CAMHS.

Referral Process

We accept referrals from GPs and Surrey and Borders clinicians. It helps us if base line blood tests results are made available, plus height and weight in the referral letter.

Referral Criteria

People should be stable before being accepted for care by us - we will offer consultation and advice during acute phases of medical or psychiatric disturbance, but will not be actively involved in treatment until the person is stable. We do not assess people with a BMI >35. We are happy to discuss any potential referrals on the telephone.
