Partners Involvement

The Alzheimer's Society are the UK's leading dementia support and research charity who fund medical and social research and campaign for better quality of life for people with dementia. Chris Wyatt, Regional Operations Manager South East, discusses the Alzheimer's Society's involvement with TIHM for dementia, and explains why it is important to test the different methods of supporting people in their own homes.


Dr Payam Barnaghi, Reader in Machine Intelligence at University of Surrey and Technical Lead for TIHM for dementia, discusses how the university has bought together academics from multiple disciplines. Their focus is on finding technological solutions to healthcare problems with the aim of enhancing care and support services.


Professor Roma Maguire is the Head of eHealth Research at the School of Health Sciences, University of Surrey. She has significant experience in the design and conduct of clinical trials and the development and evaluation of eHealth interventions. She explains the vital role the University of Surrey is playing in developing the Internet of Things (the combining of technologies) and evaluating how effective the interventions are.


Kent Surrey Sussex Academic Health Science Network was instrumental in supporting NHS England with setting up the Test Bed programme. The programme aims to support research into how combinations of innovations can improve the lives of people with long terms health conditions. Guy Boersma explains how KSS AHSN sourced the consortium of partners and innovators to successfully bid for the money to launch TIHM for dementia.
