Our core purpose is to work with people and lead communities in improving their mental and physical health and wellbeing for a better life; through delivering excellent and responsive prevention, diagnosis, early intervention, treatment and care.
Nominations are now closed, the judging panel are busy at work and we'll be announcing the winners at our Awards Ceremony on 20 March 2018.
We are looking for hidden stars amongst our staff and those working in integrated teams, volunteers, governors and partners that deserve to be rewarded for their outstanding service and achievements for our 2017 CARE Awards .
There are 9 categories that you can nominate an individual or team for and finalists will be invited to a special celebration evening in March 2018 where the winners and runners-up will be presented with prize money and a commemorative plaque.

1. CARE Employee of the Year
This award recognises the achievements of an individual who surpasses their job description, displays a high level of dedication to their role and is viewed as an ambassador for the organisation. This person will have brought about change and clear benefits for the people who use our services and their carers through direct care or through enabling support services to achieve improved care.
They should be able to complete all tasks with accuracy and thoroughness. Whilst maintaining sound management of their role they should be considerate to the needs of others and will have demonstrated kindness and respect for people’s human rights and equality.
2. Team of the Year
The definition of a team in this context is two or more members of Trust staff sharing the same goals in either day-to-day work or on a particular project or task. This award is for the team who has demonstrated their ability to deliver clear benefits through working together creatively, effectively and efficiently. All members of the team work cohesively, respecting the abilities and views of all members whilst listening to those they serve and respecting people’s human rights and equality. All team members work towards maintaining excellent morale and resilience and overall the team displays it is more than the sum of its constituent parts.
3. Positive CARE Champion of the Year
This new award is to recognise an individual or team who have led the way in embracing the Positive and Safe CARE agenda to provide positive support to people with the most complex needs in the least restrictive way possible.
The individual or team will have used innovation and creative thinking to develop individual plans and interventions to manage behaviour in a positive way, enabling people who use services to live a full life. In doing so they will have taken into account people's human rights and equality. This award is open to both clinical and support staff.
4. Non-clinical CARE Support Worker of the Year
This award is to recognise those non-clinical staff working in posts across bands 1 - 4 as administrative or clerical staff, ancillary staff or similar. Nominees can be employed either directly by the Trust or by a contractor/partner.
The individual displays a willingness to learn new skills and provides a high level of competency in completing all tasks. He or she excels in their role, providing a valuable innovative and creative contribution to their team or department to improve the lives of people who use our services, carers and/or staff whilst taking into account people’s human rights and equality.
5. Clinical CARE Support Worker of the Year
This award is to recognise those clinical staff working in posts across bands 1 – 4.
The individual displays a willingness to learn new skills and provides a high level of competency in completing all tasks. They excel in their role, providing a valuable innovative and creative contribution to their team or department and also listen to the views of people who use services and carers and consistently work in a person-centred manner. They have made a significant difference to improve the lives of people who use our services, carers and staff whilst showing kindness and taking into account people’s human rights and equality.
6. CARE Leader of the Year
The qualities of leadership are not exclusive to managers and therefore this category is open to all staff.
The individual will have the ability to inspire others and promote quality and equality in all areas of work whilst listening to the needs of people who use services, carers and staff; thereby making informed decisions. They continually act as a role model, set high standards, show kindness and respect for people who use our services, carers and staff and consider their human rights. As a leader they are continually mindful of the attainment of the Trust’s values and are able to carry others with them in the achievement of these.
7. CARE Volunteer of the Year
This award is for an individual including public governors or a charity that has worked in partnership with the Trust to help it achieve its aims and values.
They give their time (unpaid), to bring benefits to people who use our services, their carers’ and staff. This will involve listening to individuals, showing kindness and respecting people’s human rights and equality providing a high level of support and care. This may include innovation and creative thinking to help us better reach our personalisation and recovery goals.
8. CARE Partner of the Year
This category will look for an individual or team who have worked to improve and foster partnership working within their area of work whilst demonstrating they are supportive of others. This will include bringing individuals and teams together, highlighting their ability to work in an inclusive manner and in line with the Trust’s values. Nominees will have shown their dedication to want to make a difference to people’s lives, listening to and acting on the views of people who use services, carers and staff and taking account of human rights and equality. This may include innovative and creative approaches to help us better reach our personalisation and recovery goals.
Partnership could include work with staff side colleagues, social care colleagues, or other health or voluntary sector colleagues.
9. CARE Involvement Champion of the Year
Respecting individual views is central to this award as well as actively involving people who use services and carers in developing services and decision making processes in creative and innovative ways along with nurturing and using their feedback to improve services.
This award will recognise individuals or teams who have shown commitment to personalisation and treating people who use services and carers with kindness and respect whilst taking into account people’s human rights and equality.
