Service Description

The National Autistic Society provide a Family Support Service to parents and carers who have received a diagnosis of autism for their child or young person (aged 0-18 years) who live within Surrey.

Our Family Support Coordinators offer one to one, hour long appointments to discuss the needs of the child, the impact of the diagnosis on the family, and provide practical and emotional support, advice, information and strategies.

Monthly, topic based workshops are also offered which offer focussed, practical strategies for families. These are parent lead, in that we listen to the needs of the parents and carers we work with to identify topics that are suitable to address in a group setting. This has included understanding and managing behaviour, communication, visual supports and transition. Parents who are awaiting a diagnosis of autism, or whose child presents social & communication difficulties are also welcome to book onto these workshops.
