The South East (Kent, Surrey & Sussex) Perinatal Mental Health (PMH) networks have received national PMH funding to roll out the GP Spotlight project across the Kent, Surrey and Sussex (KSS).
This project aims to deliver comprehensive PMH training for GPs. GP Spotlight was piloted in Wessex in 2017 using GP Champions to deliver peer to peer training to other GPs. This highly effective peer to peer training managed to reach over 60% of their GP surgeries over a one year period.
KSS has recently appointed 8 enthusiastic GP Champions across their area who will deliver this training to other GPs over a period of 6 months from February 2019 to July 2019. The GP Champions have all attended national PMH training on London and local training event to learn about local services. Following on from this each GP Champion will be delivering up to 20 sessions each within a six month period across primary care primarily for GPs but also including other primary care clinicians.
