Drugs

• Needle exchanges: Needle and syringe provision, along with support and advice, is available at many Surrey community pharmacies
• Talk to Frank: Friendly, confidential drug advice
• Narcotics Anonymous: Support and advice for those affected by drug addiction
• Cocaine Anonymous: Peer support for recovery from cocaine addiction
• Release: Organisation providing free legal advice on drug issues and a helpline
• Live Well: NHS website with resources, tools and information about where to get help.

Alcohol

• Alcoholics Anonymous (AA): Fellowship and support for people recovering from alcoholism
• Drinkaware: A UK alcohol charity offering evidence-based facts and advice about alcohol to encourage safer drinking
• Alcohol Change UK: A UK alcohol charity with information about alcohol and details of help and support available
• Better Health: NHS website aimed at supporting you to take steps to improve your health. Useful tips and information around cutting down on alcohol use.

Drug and alcohol 

• SMART Recovery: Self-management and recovery training for addictive behaviours
• Surrey Drug and Alcohol Care: Freephone helpline (0808 8025000) and telephone counselling for people concerned about the problems that drugs or alcohol cause
• Catalyst Support: Offer counselling for people in Surrey who have concerns with their drug, alcohol or mental health issues. Catalyst Support offer specialist outreach support for people affected by Cuckooing
• Catch-22: A specialist treatment service in Surrey offering one-to-one support to young people aged 11 to 25 years, and their families who are affected by substance use
• Breaking Free: Free, evidence-based recovery support program. Achieve and maintain your long-term recovery goals from substance dependence. Refer yourself to i-access for free access to the website
• NHS Addictions Provider Alliance: working together to ensure quality, knowledge and care in addiction services across the UK.

Family and carer support

• Al-Anon UK: Support for families affected by someone else’s drinking

• Adfam: Help for families affected by drugs and alcohol

• Families Anonymous: Peer support for families dealing with addiction-related behaviours

• Action for carers can talk to you about your caring situation and suggest ways to help.

Mental health and crisis support

• Mental Health Crisis Helpline: Free 24-hour NHS support for mental health emergencies: 0800 915 4644
• Safe Havens: Out-of-hours NHS mental health support in Surrey
• Samaritans: Confidential support for anyone in distress
• Rethink Mental Illness: Support for mental health challenges.

Sexual health and harm reduction

• Advocacy: Healthwatch Surrey, in partnership with Surrey Independent Living Council, provides a free, and independent health complaints advocacy service. They work to ensure people can represent their own interests as far as possible.
