Charity football tournament raises £5,000 for local NHS services
Our first Charity Football Tournament has raised an incredible £5,000 to help enhance care, experiences and wellbeing for people using Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust services.
Colleagues, suppliers and partners came together at Goals Tolworth on Friday 25 September for a sunny day of football, friendly competition and fundraising for Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Charity.
The money raised will support projects and improvements beyond core NHS provision for people using our mental health, learning disability, neurodevelopmental and drug and alcohol services.
A winning day on and off the pitch
Kendra Energy, playing as Kendra Massive, became the first winners of our Charity Champion Cup after a closely fought final against CBRE went to penalties.
Our Trust team also put in a fantastic performance, finishing fourth despite the unusually hot conditions. The team brought together colleagues from different roles and services across the Trust.
Olalekan Johnson, Associate Director of Inpatient Services and a member of the Trust team, said:
“It was a great day. The sun was shining and I was away from the computer and the stress of work, so thank you for organising it. I truly enjoyed my time and it was absolutely fantastic to meet others in a different setting. I will definitely be interested and looking forward to next year.”

John Pierce, Group Commercial Director at London Drainage Facilities, joined us on the day and presented the Charity Champion Cup to the winners.

£5,000 to help make a difference
The NHS funds essential care. With the support of our fundraisers, donors and partners, our Charity can provide more than NHS funding alone can deliver.
The £5,000 raised will help fund projects such as therapeutic resources, improvements to care environments and initiatives that support people's recovery, independence and wellbeing.
Following the success of the tournament, we'll review the event and explore opportunities to hold similar, accessible fundraising events in the future.
