We are a co-produced team supporting organisations and communities to create trauma-aware and trauma-responsive services and workplaces across Surrey and north east Hampshire.

What we do

  • Since 2020, we’ve trained over 4,000 people across a wide range of services

  • We’ve helped many teams put trauma-informed practice into action.

What is trauma?

Trauma is how someone experiences an event, or series of events, that they find physically or emotionally harmful, or life-threatening.

Trauma isn’t always caused by what happened, sometimes it’s caused by what didn’t happen, like not receiving emotional support or care when it was needed.

These experiences can have long-lasting effects on a person’s mental, physical, emotional, social or spiritual wellbeing, and may make it harder for them to engage with services.

Why a trauma-informed approach matters

Research shows that trauma is common, and that taking a trauma-informed approach can lead to:

  • Better physical and mental health

  • Stronger social outcomes

  • More effective, compassionate services
