Congratulations to Dr Marco Mura, Hope Service Consultant and Deputy Associate Medical Director, who has been named Trainer of the Year at this year’s Kent, Surrey and Sussex School of Psychiatry Awards.

The annual awards celebrate outstanding contributions to psychiatric education and training in Kent, Surrey and Sussex. This year's event took place on Friday, 11 July at the Mercure Dartford Brands Hatch Hotel in Kent.

Dr Mura, who supports young people at risk of being admitted to inpatient care, was recognised as an exceptional leader providing training for higher psychiatry trainees at the Hope Service. He is also closely involved with regional training programmes through Health Education England.

The Hope Service is a multi-agency service for young people aged 11-18 who are experiencing complex mental health, emotional, social and behavioural challenges.

A nominator said: “Aside from the fact that Dr Mura is an excellent clinician, he is also a brilliant educator. This past year, I have grown from strength to strength under his guidance and immense support. He has been a significant part of my growth in my last year of training and I am eternally grateful.

"He is also a great representation of what a leader should be, and I built on these skills through him. I feel better equipped to start my new consultant role because of him.”
