We’ve been highlighted in a Health Service Journal article this week as one of only two mental health trusts nationally using a system that helps people using mental health services get the right care more quickly.
The system, known as Advice and Guidance (A&G), allows primary care clinicians (such as GPs) to get advice on a patient's condition, treatment options, or whether a referral to a specialist is necessary.
Rebecca Gray, Director of the NHS Confederation’s Mental Health Network, said:
“Mental health services can and should play a crucial role in these kinds of initiatives.”
She added that GPs receiving advice from specialist mental health teams, such as the ones at our trust, will help them:
“support people more quickly, and tackle issues before they get worse.”
