Aruna Mehta.jpgWe are delighted to announce the appointment of Aruna Mehta as our new Chair.

Aruna brings a wide range of boardroom experience, both as an executive and non-executive, with particular expertise in governance. She has had a 25-year career in banking and finance, with responsibility for global risk and control and a decade of experience as a non-executive director (NED) working in the health, housing, and education sectors. She continues to serve as an NED at the Tavistock and Portman NHS Foundation Trust, having also served as an NED at St George’s, Epsom and St Helier Hospital Group until January 2024. Aruna also works with the Value Circle, an organisation that provides consultancy services in leadership, governance and risk management.

Commenting on her appointment, Aruna said: “It is a privilege to be working for an NHS Trust focused on delivering high quality mental health, learning disability, neurodevelopmental and drug and alcohol services across Surrey and north east Hampshire.

“I have already had the opportunity to meet many staff working at the Trust and am impressed by their enthusiasm and dedication.”

Aruna has been appointed for a term of three years from the start of April 2024. Dr Ian McPherson previously held the role of Chair. He stood down in February 2024 following a seven-year term.
