A new NHS commissioned service that is giving adults earlier access to ADHD diagnosis and treatment in Surrey has received excellent feedback.
The service was launched by our trust in partnership with a local GP clinic earlier this year to help reduce long waiting times. Well Life Clinic is led by experienced GPs who have received specialist training. They work closely with our Neurodevelopmental team to provide high quality care. Up to 100 adults a month who are already on our trust’s waiting list are being offered an assessment through the clinic. All support provided by the clinic is free of charge.
People who have been referred to Well Life Clinic have praised the support they have received.
One person who received treatment through Well Life Clinic said: “I couldn’t be happier with the level of care and support given to me by the Well Life Clinic. Seeking an ADHD diagnosis at my age has been hard and made me feel very vulnerable but I was treated with dignity and compassion and I really appreciated that.”
Another person said: “I used Well Life for my recent ADHD assessment. The questionnaires were really simple to fill out and the service was quick and easy. The assessment was very easy too with very nice staff and a clean and tranquil environment.”
The Well Life Clinic partnership service offers adults:
- A full and thorough ADHD assessment
- Physical health checks before starting any medication
- Support with beginning medication and regular follow-up reviews
- Updates shared with Surrey and Borders Partnership and your GP to keep your care joined-up
- A smooth transfer back to your GP for ongoing ADHD medication, if you start treatment.
Consultant Psychiatrist at our trust, Professor Raja Mukherjee, said the early feedback was encouraging. “We are delighted with the feedback we have received from people who have received support. As a clinician, I know how important it is for people to receive the care they need as promptly as possible,” he said.
Adults on the trust’s ADHD waiting list who are eligible for referral to the service are being contacted about the offer.
