Service Description
We are the Eating Disorders Service for children and young people up to 18 years old in North East Hampshire. We also provide this service Surrey-wide.
We assess and treat young people with eating disorders including:
⦁ Anorexia Nervosa
⦁ Bulimia Nervosa
⦁ Binge Eating Disorder
⦁ Other specified Feeding or Eating Disorders
⦁ Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)
We are accredited with the Quality Network for Community Eating Disorder Services for Children and Young People (QNCC-ED).
We are a multi-disciplinary team providing assessments and community treatment programmes with evidence-based treatments, and we have excellent links with the adult eating disorder service and inpatient services.
Please note assessments and reviews will be held in Epsom but we will aim to offer the weekly clinical sessions closer to home at the Aldershot Centre for Health, Hospital Hill, Aldershot, Hampshire, GU11 1AY.
Parents & Carers Group
We run a 6-week rolling psycho-education group for parents and carers who are completing Family Based Treatment. This group gives essential information about eating disorders, understanding treatment, and also hearing the experiences of others.
It runs every Tuesday from 9.30-11am online. Following assessment you will be sent information regarding the group and the MS TEAMS link. We encourage all parents and carers who have any role in helping the young person attend.
With Beat, the UK's eating disorder charity, we offer support groups (Endeavour) for parents and carers of young people who have a diagnosis of ARFID.
Referral Process
We offer self-referrals from parents/carers or young people themselves please contact us directly to make a self-referral (please note that a parent/carer needs permission to self-refer for anyone over 16 years old).
Please call us on 01372 216 633. We will need an up-to-date weight and height to be able to triage a self-referral.
We accept referrals from GPs, schools, and other health professionals for children and young people who have or are suspected of having an eating disorder. To contact us or make a referral:
⦁ GPs - Please make a referral using the Electronic Referral System (eRS)
⦁ All other education, social care and health professionals - Please visit the Children's referral portal. Please use Google Chrome to do this.
If you work for Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust please follow the consultant-to-consultant request for support procedure.
We require a weight and height for referral.
There is no minimum weight restrictions to access our service, and it is no longer recommended for GPs to "watch and wait" but to refer for early intervention.
Once we receive the referral an assessment will be offered.
