A huge thank you to Camina Bowen Czerwiec, Assessment Suite Coordinator (ASC) at FRH, who with Kylie Witkowski, Nurse Consultant, have started the Green Roots to Recovery project, a therapeutic gardening project at Farnham Road Hospital designed to improve wellbeing and support recovery for the people we care for.
This project will transform outdoor spaces into calm, welcoming environments where patients can take part in meaningful gardening activities - helping to reduce stress, build confidence and support mental health recovery. This will particularly support people on Mulberry and Magnolia wards so adults aged 18-65, as well as older adults who can use these spaces.
“Green Roots to Recovery was created to give the people we care for access to safe, calming outdoor spaces where they can reconnect with nature, develop new skills and support their wellbeing through meaningful activity. Gardening can have a hugely positive impact on mental health, confidence and recovery, and we hope this project will create a lasting therapeutic environment that supports the wellbeing of both service users and staff across Farnham Road Hospital.
