Surrey’s Care Leavers team has ensured that people who use the service will receive a Christmas present this year by organising a present donation scheme for the fifth year in a row.

The Children and Young People's emotional wellbeing and mental health Care Leavers Service, which is provided as part of Mindworks Surrey, offers mental health support to vulnerable young people aged 16 – 25 as they leave their children’s homes, hostels and foster placements and transition into adult life.

“Christmas is a particularly difficult time for these young people, who often don’t have family to celebrate with, so that's why we're running our Christmas Bag Project and asking you to make a donation” said Specialist Mental Health Practitioner Sandra Forrester.

“Our goal is to provide all our clients with a bag of goodies to open on Christmas day. These gifts are always so warmly received by our young people. Your donations really do make a difference” added Sandra.

Feedback from young people who have benefited from the Christmas Bag Project in previous years

“This is the best Christmas I have had in a long time. Thank you so much for my gifts.”
“It’s nice to know that so many people cared and wanted to donate gifts for Care Leavers.”
“I was really shocked when you gave me my Christmas bag. Thank you.”
