In September 2021, the Trust submitted a planning application for the Jubilee Complex at Headley Court, near Leatherhead.
The buildings were previously used as a rehabilitation centre for injured military personnel, but most recently, a neighbouring NHS Trust utilised them to deliver essential health services during the early stages of the Covid-19 pandemic. When the decision was made to close the Covid facility, we saw the potential that this site could continue to offer.
Commercial negotiations have concluded; the purchase of the buildings is no longer a viable option, and we will therefore be withdrawing our planning application.
Graham Wareham, Chief Executive said: “The increasing level of demand for mental health inpatient services in Surrey is driving a need to find ways to increase our capacity so we can continue to provide care and treatment close to home for our local communities. Whilst this outcome is disappointing, the level of demand and the need for extra capacity has not gone away, and so we will now focus on identifying alternative solutions within Surrey.”
