Welcome to RecoveryFest 2026
We are delighted to host RecoveryFest 2026. Now in its sixth year, RecoveryFest brings together recovery-focused services and organisations within our community to celebrate recovery in all its forms.
For those of you who are not familiar with the college, we offer a wide range of free courses to help people better understand and manage their mental health needs, recover and stay well. You can take this opportunity to talk to our team about our courses.
Our courses are delivered by specially trained Recovery Coaches, who have lived experience or mental or physical ill health, alongside mental health professionals. They provide information, strategies and skills that help people become experts in their own self-care.
The Recovery College supports not just people who would like to manage their own wellbeing but also family and friends who would like to learn how to support loved ones and healthcare professionals who would like to better support those in their care.
Our courses cover mental and physical health and are held virtually or in safe and supportive learning spaces. Recovery College is open to anyone aged 18+ living in Surrey and North-East Hampshire. Enrolling in our courses is easy and entirely self-referral.
A message from our Service Lead
Welcome to RecoveryFest 2026!
This wonderful event continues to grow, and we are thrilled to welcome so many services and teams to Stoke Park this year.
Since Rebecca Owen-Childs (ROC), Lead Recovery Coach, first had the idea of a festival for mental health services and agencies to come together with the public we serve, it has only continued to grow in size and popularity. Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts and updates here.
RecoveryFest coincides with the end of the academic year, which gives me, and the rest of the Recovery College team, a chance to reflect on the past 12 months, and to look ahead at what’s in store. Over the past year we have continued to develop and deliver a wide range of courses and are particularly proud of our new courses in pain management and neurodiversity.
In September 2025, we launched our new online platform “MRN,” which has changed our administrative processes and given our students more control over their bookings. It has also enabled us to monitor completion of our surveys/questionnaire which is incredibly important in enabling us to evidence the impact of our courses and identify areas for improvement & development. Thank you to all our students who take the time to complete these forms – it really is appreciated.
We have faced staffing challenges this year with several team members being away from work for several months and a rather lengthy period without an Assistant Psychologist. I am so pleased to be able to announce that we have now recruited into this position and we have welcomed Becca Daly to the Recovery College Team. In addition to Becca’s post, we have also celebrated 2 short-term additions to the team and have Laura Spalding and Beth Dudley working with us to bolster our facilitation team. We have plenty of projects planned for the summer, which Becca, Beth, and Laura will be involved with and use their extensive knowledge and experience. I want to thank all our students for their patience and understanding during this difficult time, as I know it has impacted the number and range of courses we have been able to offer.
Looking ahead to 2026/2027, we have various projects and ideas lined up. We are embarking on work to standardise our courses so that the materials and structure of courses are consistent across all topics and categories. Our hope is that this will improve the student experience and enable our volunteers to facilitate more confidently. As always, we will work with our colleagues and partners both within SABP and outside of the trust to develop new courses.
I want to acknowledge the hard work from the whole team in the organisation and delivery of RecoveryFest, and the fact that we are missing Georgie Furneaux today, who has been instrumental in making today happen. Unfortunately, Rebecca Owen-Childs is also unable to be with us at this year’s event.
This year we celebrated Ali Koenigsberger (Lead Admin) and Linda Parfitt winning the silver awards at the Surrey and Borders Staff Awards, which was thoroughly deserved.
Our student population has grown with 970 new enrolments in the past 12 months! It’s fantastic that many people have been able to access our courses. Despite our staffing difficulties, we have run 179 courses, which is only possible because of the extreme hard work of our team and the crucial support of our volunteers. We would not have been able to do this without you all! We have welcomed new volunteers this year – Hélène Walravens & Fergus Smith.
Our outcome measures show the excellent impact of our courses, and this term we had a 96% completion of student goals within face-to-face courses, which is a fantastic achievement.
Thank you for taking the time to read my thoughts. I hope you have a wonderful time at RecoveryFest 2026. If you would like to discuss anything further or have ideas about how the Recovery College might improve, please contact me: nina.clayton-broom@sabp.nhs.uk. If you are not yet a student, then you can enrol today at RecoveryFest or access our online form on our website, and if you are interested in becoming a Volunteer with us, we would love to hear from you too. All that remains for me to say is a massive thank you to the whole Recovery College team for making today happen.
