The Surrey Liaison and Diversion Service accept referrals for any person who has been in recent contact with the criminal justice system over the age of 10 years from Police, Probation Service, Youth Offending Teams, Court Teams, Prison Teams, other L&D services, Solicitors, Appropriate Adults, Mental Health Services, Substance and Alcohol Misuse Services, and self-referrals from individuals or their families, friends or carers.
We appreciate that women, men and children can have differing needs based on life experience and trauma, and we pride ourselves in providing a person-centred approach. We will assess, and identify vulnerabilities and support needs. We will then establish a mutually agreed support plan.

Your GP would need to refer you to your local GPimhs or MHICS service. If you were assessed as suitable you could be referred to a lived experience practitioner.

Anyone with a significant mental health difficulty impacting their daily life can be referred to the GPimhs or MHICS service. You don’t need a formal diagnosis. In order to be assessed as suitable to work with a lived experience practitioner, it is anticipated that you will have reached a point where you can establish and achieve goals, demonstrating readiness to actively pursue personal recovery.

Referral via GP only for those experiencing emotional difficulties. Carers of people experiencing intense emotions are able to self-refer to the programme’s Carer Course.
Referral Criteria - No formal diagnosis is required. The Programme is for people struggling to manage fluctuating and intense emotions, and also for those caring for people.
