Document description:

Permit to Work is a documented procedure that forms part of an overall Safe System of Work which authorises contractors to carry out work on defined systems/environments within a specified time frame on any Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SaBP) sites. It defines the limitations, points of system isolations and precautions required to complete the work safely, based on a risk assessment. It describes what work will be done and how it will be done; and is detailed in a 'method statement'.

The permit-to-work requires declarations from the people authorising the work and carrying out the work. This covers any contractors attending SaBP sites, which would include contractors completing digital and medical device works.

As of Tuesday 9th May 2023 the current SaBP Permit to Work Policy will be removed from our Trust website whilst it is being updated to reflect changes to internal processes and national legislation.

During such time SaBP will utilise contractors permit to work systems, as described in their Risk Assessment Method Statement (RAMS). This process will be the responsibility of the allocated project manager to ensure that the RAMS are suitable and sufficient.
