If you live in Surrey or North East Hampshire and are experiencing a mental health crisis, support is available to you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

You can now call NHS 111 and select the mental health option to speak directly to our crisis team.

You can also continue to call our dedicated crisis line on 0800 915 4644.

Both options are free to use and open to people of all ages, including children, young people and adults.

What is a mental health crisis?

Experiencing a mental health crisis can look different for different people, but it can include:

  • Being at risk of harm to yourself or others
  • Having severe anxiety or panic attacks
  • Experiencing flashbacks or nightmares from past trauma
  • Feeling suicidal or thinking about self-harm
  • Going through extreme highs or lows, worrying others may want to harm you, or hearing voices
  • Withdrawing from friends and family
  • Struggling to communicate clearly or focus on anything else
  • Feeling unable to cope or like you’re at breaking point

Triggering events might include bereavement, a relationship ending, work or exam stress, or challenges with addiction. A crisis can happen whether you have a diagnosed mental health condition or have never experienced one before.

When you call

You’ll speak to a trained mental health professional who will:
