Physiotherapy helps restore movement and function to as near normal as possible when someone is affected by injury, illness or by developmental or other disability.

Chartered physiotherapists combine their knowledge, skills and approach to treat a broad range of physical problems associated with different 'systems' of the body. We work closely with families and carers supporting them to enable people to reach their full potential. We also use our skills to improve quality of life and comfort for those who are nearing the end of their life (or those who have life-limiting illness).

Within Surrey and Borders Partnership, the physiotherapists work in all the different care groups, and are specialists in their chosen area. This could entail working with people with learning disabilities, adults with mental health problems, older people with mental health problems or children. Many different forms of treatment are used including hydrotherapy, and it can involve advice on the provision of specialised equipment. Assistants work alongside the physiotherapists helping to carry out treatment programmes designed to help the service users achieve their full potential.

Physiotherapists and their assistants work as part of multidisciplinary teams which include professionals from many different fields, in this way it can be ensured that the service provided is seamless and supportive.

"Movement is a medicine for creating change in a person's physical, emotional, and mental states"~ Carol Welch
