Caring for someone with a mental health condition can be difficult, especially if you’re worried about their safety or things feel overwhelming. It can also affect your own wellbeing, leaving you feeling anxious, upset or unsure what to do next.
If the person you care for is in crisis
If someone you care for is in crisis, for example, they are very distressed, talking about suicide or acting in a way that feels unsafe, support is available at any time.
You can call our free 24/7 mental health crisis line to speak to trained professionals. They will listen to you and help you decide what to do next. You do not need to be using our services to get help.
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999.
Extended Hope
Extended Hope is an evening support service for young people who are facing a mental health crisis. It offers a safe place to stay for up to seven days, as well as support for families to plan ongoing care.
You can call them through our 24/7 mental health crisis line.
If you’re a young carer and need someone to talk to
Looking after someone can be tough, especially if you are also trying to manage school, college or other parts of your life. It is completely normal to feel stressed or overwhelmed.
Our CYP Havens are safe and welcoming spaces for children and young people under 18. You can drop in and talk to someone in confidence about how you are feeling. There is no need to book or be referred.
CYP Havens are not crisis services, but they can support you if you need someone to talk to or help managing difficult emotions.
