Biography
Dr Pankhurst has over 15 years’ experience in the field of general adult psychiatry, with extensive experience providing assessment and treatment for a broad range of psychiatric complaints. He has worked for several years with acute psychiatric services, treating the extremely unwell either at home or in inpatient settings. He is currently working as part of a Community Mental Health Recovery team with responsibility for delivering a high quality, responsive service, with innovative approaches to managing recovery for service users in the community. Dr Pankhurst carries out assessments of new and complex cases, provides diagnostic formulation and recommends treatments, working with families and carers to understand the illness and work towards recovery. This also involves working across several interfaces - primary care, acute hospitals and psychiatric acute care services. He enjoys teaching, which is an integral part of his role as Educational Supervisor. His areas of special interest are: Stress Related Disorders including Anxiety and Work Related Stress; Depression and Bipolar Affective Disorders; Difficulties Managing Emotions and Self Harm. All General Psychiatric Conditions including Psychotic Disorders.
