Dr Jane Perera

Community Mental Health Recovery service, Surrey Heath

Dr Perera trained on the St. George's and South West London Training Rotation, completed her Masters in Addictions and has worked for the last 20 years in the field of general adult psychiatry. She has worked in the community and for several years with an acute psychiatric service treating the extremely unwell either at home or in inpatient settings. She currently works three days per week as part of a team with responsibility for delivering a high quality, responsive service, with innovative approaches to managing recovery for service users in the community. Dr Perera carries out assessments of new and complex cases, provides diagnostic formulation and recommends treatments, working with families and carers to understand the illness and work towards recovery. This also involves working across several interfaces - primary care, acute hospitals and psychiatric acute care services. She enjoys teaching, which is an integral part of her role. She also works two days per week in the private sector in a senior management role.
