Leadership, Management and Personal Development Skills

Leadership, Management and Personal Development Skills are vital to everyone working within Surrey and Borders, as we develop a Collective, Collaborative and Inclusive model of leadership.

Personal Development Skills involve the personal qualities which enable people to:

  • Work well with others
  • Effectively navigate their environment
  • Perform/achieve goals

They include a person's general disposition, personality and attitude, communication and interpersonal skills, human factors and their emotional and social intelligence.

Workshops include subjects such as Courageous Conversations, Resilience, Positive Time Management and Knowing our Clients.

Leadership and Management is a collection of these skills which allows the definition and communication of a vision and ideas that inspires others to follow with commitment and dedication.

We have opportunities for staff to:

  • Attend internal accredited leadership programmes, such as the ILM Level 5 Accredited SABP Leadership & ManaLeadership Icon External Site.pnggement Programme
  • Attend NHS Leadership Academy supported leadership programmes
  • Take part in individual skills-based short workshops
  • Receive 1-1 coaching (and become coaches)
  • Learn about Collective, Collaborative and Inclusive leadership
  • Develop skills to help themselves and their teams improve their wellbeing and their success

The Leadership, Management and Personal Development team is based in the Learning and Development Suite at Farnham Road Hospital, Guildford, although training takes place at venues across the Trust as well as online via MS Teams.
