A new treatment programme is available for people who are showing signs of higher-risk drinking and seeking to reduce their intake.

The treatment programme, called Extended Brief Interventions (EBI), offers up to six 30-minute telephone sessions with an alcohol specialist from the iaccess drug and alcohol service. These sessions use proven techniques to help people explore ways to reduce their drinking and prevent problems from escalating.

Initial feedback shows that around 85% of those who have completed treatment found it to be helpful to them in taking steps to successfully cut back on their drinking.

The programme has been well received by those who have accessed this early support -  85% of those who have completed treatment said it has helped them to cut back on their drinking - and has now received a year’s funding to deliver over 120 sessions per month.

Refer yourself to the programme by contacting iaccess on 0300 222 5932, 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday, or by searching ‘Getting Help’ at https://www.surreydrugandalcohol.com/

You can check your own drinking levels by completing the DrinkCoach Alcohol Test drinkcoach.org.uk/alcohol-test - an anonymous online survey to help you spot the signs of problem drinking. If the survey highlights drinking at risky levels, you will be advised to contact i-access for further support.
