Welcome to AEDimhs, the Adult Eating Disorder Integrated Mental Health Service (AEDimhs), a new service designed to support individuals dealing with mild eating disorders that are affecting their daily lives. AEDimhs is being rolled out to GP practices in our region over the next two years, bringing help and hope to people in need.
Currently, AEDimhs it is available in various locations, including Woking, Epsom, north Guildford, Elmbridge, Farnham and Farmborough areas. Our service can be accessed via GPs and other community mental health services.
Whether someone is experiencing an eating disorder for the first time, or has been struggling to manage a mild disorder over time, AEDimhs can help people to recover and move forward beyond the challenges of an eating disorder. Our dedicated team of AEDimhs professionals will draw on latest eating disorder research to identify the most suitable therapy for each person. The AEDimhs team works in alignment with NICE (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence) national guidelines for the treatment of eating disorders, to ensure the best possible care.

What to Expect
Once AEDimhs receives a request for an assessment, the dedicated team will contact you promptly to arrange an initial assessment meeting with an AEDimhs clinician. To streamline the assessment process and ensure you are fully informed beofrehand, in advance you will receive an assessment pack details, including a set of questionnaires that will play a key role in informing your care planning.
Assessments are held online for acceessibility and convenience, for example via Microsoft Teams. Typically the assessment process takes around an hour giving you the opportunity to discuss the nature of your eating difficulties and any specific issues you may be facing.
Family members and friends are always welcome to join assessments should you wish. The team recognises the presence of a loved one can offer additional insights into your situation and help to craft the best care plan for you.
Drawing on the invaluable information gained during this first assessment, the team will develop the best possible care plan for you. Together with you, they will explore the best treatment options available and helps you decide on the best course of action to support your recovery.

behaviour therapy focuses on making
changes to eating behaviours and addressing
beliefs about food and body image.
Guided Self-Help
A dedicated healthcare professional provides
regular support as you manage your eating
disorder using a recommended self-help book.
MANTRA-IG
(Maudsley Anorexia Nervosa Treatment
for Adults Integrated Group programme)
This programme includes individual sessions
alongside a therapeutic group, helping
individuals to find ways of coping with Anorexia Nervosa.
Developing Dolphins
(for carers)
An online training course for anyone caring
for someone with an eating disorder. The
training course is offered through Beat, one
of the UK’s leading eating disorder charities.
It helps carers to increase their understanding
of eating disorders while offering invaluable
information on the management of a
disorder, encouraging recovery, and looking
after wellbeing.
