What is the study about?
SANDBOX is a national study led by Imperial College London exploring whether combining blood tests, genetic testing and online assessments can help Memory Clinics diagnose dementia more accurately and efficiently. The study will also look at how best to share genetic risk information with patients and families.
Who can take part?
Adults aged 50 or over who are on a Memory Clinic waiting list and are experiencing memory or thinking difficulties.
What is involved?
Participants will be asked to:
• Give a blood sample for biomarker and genetic testing (including APOE4 status)
• Complete online memory and thinking tasks
• Take part in a short speech test
These tests will take place before their Memory Clinic appointment and may help with diagnosis. Optional counselling will be available to explain the results. Travel costs will be reimbursed.
