What we do

We aim to make the biggest impact on the mental health, physical health and well-being of the 1.3 million people across Surrey and north east Hampshire. Our vision is to empower our NHS to provide exceptional care, support and innovation to enhance the well-being across our whole community.

Mental health issues affect 1 in 4 people in the UK every year, it can affect any of us at any time, yet only 1 in 8 receive the care they desperately need.

Surrey and Borders Partnership provides care and services from our hospitals, community settings, and residential homes, including maternity, drug and alcohol, dementia and learning and neurodevelopmental disability services so we are very much at the forefront of tackling this crisis. The NHS supports our core work but growing demand means we need to do more. This is where our charity comes in.

What we fund

  • special projects that make a real difference to the people who need us, their families and the staff who treat them
  • provide new equipment for diagnosis and treatment
  • conduct pioneering research
  • and help us improve our environments to enhance healing and recovery

We transform lives and provide care every step of the way. And to achieve our goal of striving to provide local, accessible care as close to home as possible.

Together, we can support better mental health for us all.

Information to consider

  • The aim of our charitable activities should ultimately be linked to our strategic aims and for the benefit of people who use our services. Such benefit may take the form of improved clinical services or enhanced patient experience. Where the immediate benefit of expenditure is for staff welfare or development, this should be approved in accordance with agreed restrictions for our specified Staff Hardship fund, or if from any other fund should be a clear link to improved services for people who use our services – for example through enhancing relevant staff skills, wellbeing or encouraging staff innovation.
  • Grants can only be awarded up to the value in the available fund.
  • Each request will be fully considered and awards tailored to maximise support but may be in result in part-funding rather than full funding. Charitable Funds will also not be able to provide financial assistance to meet every request.
  • Applications will be reviewed by the Head of Fundraising, Senior Financial Accountant and Charitable Funds Management Committee and Trust Board at our regular meetings. If you have an urgent need please contact Lila Dowie, Head of Fundraising or Katie Abbott, Senior Financial Accountant to assist you.
