Governance and best practice
We follow best practice advice and guidance from the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA), the professional body for finance staff working in healthcare.
We also regularly collaborate with NHS charities, fundraising professionals and sector bodies to share best practice and stay informed about emerging trends, regulatory requirements and opportunities to maximise the impact of charitable funds.
How charitable funds are managed
Our charity is registered with the Charity Commission as the umbrella charity for all funds held on trust for the benefit of people who use our services and our staff.
All money donated to the charity is held separately from NHS funds. It is used to support projects, equipment, environments, research, innovation and wellbeing initiatives that go beyond core NHS provision, helping improve the experience and outcomes of the people and communities we serve.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks
We confirm that all staff and volunteers working with children or vulnerable adults are subject to appropriate pre-engagement vetting, including Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) checks, at the correct level for their role.
Raising concerns (whistleblowing)
The charity follows the trust's Raising Concerns (Whistleblowing) Policy, which is current and effective.
