A new opportunity for adults in Surrey to receive an ADHD assessment is now being offered by our trust.
Up to 100 adults per month who are waiting for an ADHD assessment through our trust will be offered an assessment with Well Life Clinic (WLC), a private clinic led by senior GPs, in partnership with the NHS.
This project aims to reduce the waiting times for assessment, which have significantly increased in recent years, following a national surge in referrals.
WLC GPs have received specialist training from consultant psychiatrists at our trust to assess and diagnose ADHD. The consultants will continue to provide WLC GPs with ongoing expertise and oversight to support the delivery of a high-quality service.
Professor Raja Mukherjee, Consultant Psychiatrist, said: “As a clinician, I know how important it is for people to receive the care they need as promptly as possible. We’re really pleased to offer this new option for assessment which aims to cut waiting times, and we look forward to seeing the results.”
Dr Hijab Khan, Clinical Lead at Well Life Clinic, said: “We are incredibly proud to be working in partnership with Surrey and Borders Partnership. Our team of specially-trained GPs is ready to help alleviate the pressure on NHS services by providing timely and thorough ADHD assessments.
“We understand the importance of a swift diagnosis for people’s wellbeing, and we are confident that our service will make a real difference to the lives of people in Surrey.”
As part of their ADHD assessment, people seen by WLC will fill in a questionnaire exploring their symptoms and complete a state-of-the-art QB test which measures attention, impulsivity and activity levels. They will then attend an in-person assessment with a specially trained GP, before receiving the results of their assessment. If required, further appointments to discuss medication can then be scheduled through WLC.
People will be contacted in order of how long they have been on the list. There is no obligation for people offered WLC services to accept – if they decline the offer, they will remain on the our trust's waiting list and will not lose their position.
