Welcome to Rosewood, a registered care home with nursing for seven men and women with learning disabilities and associated profound physical and general health needs. The home features a lovely sensory room and a beautiful garden, located in peaceful countryside. This purpose-built care home has been designed to be fully accessible, with large wet rooms and bedrooms that include overhead tracking and hoist systems. The team at Rosewood is creative and uses modern assistive technology, including a magic mirror with eye gaze technology, to facilitate communication, give people control over their environments, and promote engagement.

I'm the home manager at Rosewood, and I’ve been working here for just over five years now. We support individuals with profound learning disabilities and associated health needs. We support eight amazing individuals, and it’s a joy coming to work every day to support them and work alongside their families and our professional team to meet their needs. Seeing smiles on their faces and being able to support them is incredibly rewarding.

Jackie, our manager, encourages us to be creative and go with whatever works best for the residents each day. She never holds us back, which allows us to do our best work. We’re fortunate to work with brilliant individuals who have great senses of humour, and our lovely setting makes it even better. Driving up in the morning, seeing the cows and the countryside, and then arriving here to help in the garden—it’s wonderful.

I’ve worked in lots of different care homes over the past 15 years. The staff here are fantastic, and the residents are great. The way the staff interact with the residents and involve me as an aromatherapist is something special. They truly put the residents first, and while that might sound obvious, it’s not something you find everywhere. Whatever they’re doing—whether it’s cooking or laundry—they’ll include a resident to make sure they feel involved and valued.

We have a lot of family members and friends who are closely involved with the residents. It feels more like a family than an institution. There’s a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, and families know they’re part of the community at Rosewood. It’s a big family, and we’re all close and caring. The open-door policy makes it easy for relatives to stay involved, and any concerns they have are taken seriously.

Relatives play a fundamental role in the holistic care we deliver at Rosewood. Coming to work every day allows you to be imaginative and creative, spending quality time with someone to make them feel valued. You know you’re making a difference in someone else’s life, giving them a quality of life they might not have elsewhere. Rosewood truly feels like my second family.

Life at Rosewood

Supporting independence through technology

We use assistive technology to help people communicate and take part in daily life. This includes tools like eye gaze and interactive mirrors that support choice and independence. Our team helps each person engage with the world in a way that works for them.

A supportive, family-like community

Rosewood is more than a care setting, it’s a close-knit community. People who live here, their families, and our team work together to create a place where everyone feels included and supported. Families are always welcome and encouraged to stay involved.

Enjoying everyday moments

We support people to take part in everyday activities like cooking, gardening, and laundry. These simple tasks provide purpose, connection, and routine. Our team is here to help people do what they can and enjoy shared time together.

Skilled, person-centred care

Our staff are trained in both personal and clinical care. They work with flexibility and creativity to meet each person’s needs and preferences. With nursing support on-site, we can provide consistent, high-quality care in a home that feels safe and comfortable.

A peaceful, calming environment

Rosewood’s large garden and sensory room offer quiet, calming spaces to relax. Surrounded by nature, people can enjoy birdwatching, fresh air, and the changing seasons.
